I have a 4 month old great Dane/boxer/pit bull mix and he is not getting the hang of going potty on potty pads. We have had him for a little over a month and its impossible to get him to do what we need him to do. We have a set spot for him in the laundry room where he has plenty of room to go. We already have an 8 month old bassador that completely understands this potty pad thing. But the other pup doesn’t get it.
We are being completely patient with him. And he goes in 3 spots of the house. 1) next to the couch (which is no where close to the set potty area) 2) on the tile edge next to the dining room (still not in the same room as the set potty area) and 3) in the back bathroom (which is not in the same room but closer)
The people that had him before us didn’t tell us much about his potty schedule and when we asked questions they really didn’t have an answer…
He only goes poop next to the couch and he really only pees on the tile next to the dining room.
He also acts kinda scared of the potty pads and if he is alone with one he will chew it up. Even if he has used it he will chew on it…
We are also baffled at the fact that when this dog lays on our bed with us he pees in his sleep!! I have never in my life seen a dog that does this and it just completely confuses us……
Another issue with this dog is he hates his crate. Were not sure if he was crate trained before but we sometimes leave him in his crate for as long as 4 hours. He pees in his crate and if we leave something in the crate with him (blanket or such) he chews it up. If we don’t have something in there he ends up soaked in urine. He doesn’t like his crate so much that he chews on the wire door till his mouth bleeds. Today we came home after being gone for 4 hours or so and when we opened the door he wasn’t in his crate. He had broken out of the crate and peed and pooped EVERYWHERE. There were also stuffed animals everywhere and they were ripped up and had spots of blood on them!!! We found 3 of his teeth around the house and we are worried because the vet said he had his adult teeth already.
We tried to just gate off the laundry room so he doesn’t harm himself but he either jumps over the gate or stays in the gated off area and chews on the floors, walls, knock’s over his non-tip water bowl. Now if we leave him in there we take his water away.
We don’t know what to do!!! Please help!!!
Also in case your wondering why we don’t just take him outside its because he doesn’t have all of his shots yet and the vet told us that there is a VERY high risk of him getting parvo because of the pit bull. He will have his shots soon though and we will try that but we need a plan until then….

My 14 year old had to do community service for getting into another fight so he decided to do it at a animal shelter because he thought it was going to be the easiest and a dog came and its previous owner had burnt it and pretty much used him as a punching bag everytime they got mad. They treated its injuries and then the dog failed its behavioral test because it had no trust for humans and of its history. Well the people have to let potential families know everything about an animal and nobody wanted to adopt him even though it passed the second time after he got used to humans. But his time is just about up so they send all their animals they can’t find homes for to a bigger shelter who puts dogs like that down. it is a pitbull/sheperd mix and my son has really bonded with him. My son said that sometimes the dog will get into a mood and if he shows signs of aggervasion that he would need to be left alone but if he had a home instead of a cage it would be better for him. But I also have a 1 year old baby in the house too. Any idea what I should do? I really want to adopt this dog for my son because ever since he has been volunteering there he has changed for the better a lot and I think its because of this dog but I am worried that my baby wont know when to give the dog some alone time.

My 2 1/2 year old Border Terrier/ Pomeranian mix is a very vocal dog. He barks at a lot of things but never howls. However, whenever he hears police/ambulance/firetruck sirens, he howls with them until it stops. Is he nervous about the sirens or something? Why does he do this? Thanks in advance :]

Introducing kitten to cat
(if anything goes wrong take a step back)
1.put cats scent on something and put it in kittens bed and put kittens scent on something and put on place cat sleeps.
2.after a few days put cat behind the door of the room the kittens in. let them know that there is another cat.
3.After a few days of that let them meet through glass next to kitchen door
4.After a few days let cat see the kitten through door of the kitten room with me in the way. If they want they can touch each other but stop them from fighting and close door if something goes wrong
5.After a few days put cat and kitten in room and hold cat and if kitten comes to cat hold cats front paws in a nice way so doesn’t attack kitten
6.When its safe start letting cat and kitten see each other in a room with someone watching. Looking out for warning/im boss scratches and I hate you get out scratches. If its warning/im boss scratch that’s ok if its I hate you get out scratch tell cat no (in a way she understands) if she does it too much or attacks kitten then take her out. Let cat correct playing
7.If this goes well might be a good time for toys
8.If that goes well get treats out. If they share that is good if they fight put treats away or even take cat out of room.
9.If it has all gone well so far let them see each other for longer.
10.When i really trust them keep them in the room im in and I don’t have to watch them but I don’t trust them to be in a room on their own. This is just so I can make sure there are no fights.
11.When I really really trust them they can go around the house and don’t have to be watched
Introducing kitten to dog
my dog gets really excited around new cats and loves to play with them
(if something goes wrong take step back)
1.Put kittens scent on something and put in dogs bed and put dogs scent on something and put in kittens bed.
2.After a few days Let them meet behind closed door
3.After a few days Let them meet through glass next to kitchen door.
4.After a few days put them in room dog on lead and holding kitten and put them near each other
5.After a few days let kitten on floor dog still on lead. do this till dog is really calm every time sees kitten (could take weeks/months)
6.Let dog off lead and if dog scares kitten when play put her on lead and if chases put on lead or even take out of room.
7.After a while play fight with dog to show good thing. If kitten gets scared stop.
8.If goes well let them see each other for longer might even let them play.
9.Let them see each other for longer and longer.
10.When I trust them Keep them in room im in but don’t have to watch.
11.When I really trust them let go around and don’t have to watch them
so what do you think
i have one cat and one dog and this will be my second cat. i have never introduce two cats but have introduce cat and dog. my mum has introduced to cats but the older cat ran away so i dont trust her and i know its how you introduce them.
im 14 years old so im still learning so any help would be great.

Male dogs are constantly sniffing around our house as my bitch is in heat. I have considered borrowing an air rifle but I do not want to kill or seriously injure these animals, just scare them off so they will hopefully know not to come back. Can anyone tell me how probable it is that shooting these dogs with this rifle would cause serious damage?

My husband and I have a 1 year old female pit bull. I was told they are very good with children however since I brought my newborn son home from the hospital 4 days ago she has been sniffing and attempting to lick non stop. I don’t mind the sniffing I know shes just trying to understand the scent of the baby but I don’t like the licking. She knows she not supposed to do it which is why she sneaks to do it and then when we catch her and tell her to stop she doesn’t listen half the time so we half to put her outside, which I dislike doing because I don’t want her to feel like she is no longer part of the family I just want her to understand that licking him is naughty. Also whenever Im feeding him she either becomes overly hyper and constantly messes with me which makes it difficult for me to feed him or she again tries licking his face. She is usually a chill dog with me and a hyper dog with my husband (hes the one that plays with her). But it seems like since we brought Micah home she has been really hyper with both of us and is always in Micah’s face. How do I get her to go back to being her normal chilled self? Why is she acting like this knowing that she is not supposed to? Thank You.

This is the 3rd time she’s been in a heat cycle and nothing happened to her so far we cant afford to have puppies cuz we’re gona have to buy lots of food for them. Please give me as much advice that you can think of. Oh! i am also planning to buy her the anti-sex spray for dogs so it can keep male dogs away from her… do u think that will help?

I have 2 dogs, a jack russell and a rat terrier. We used to always make sure there was food in there bowels at all times. But then the jack russell started to gain a ton of weight. Now we follow the back of the dog food bag guideline. It is premium dog food. My dogs get normal activity, but now they act like they’re starving, is this normal? My dogs are healthy otherwise.
