Great Russian Firewall
The president of the Russian association of software developers Valentine Makarov suggests putting a sluice between a Russian Internet and the rest of the Networks.
Idea of creation «great Russian Firewall» has stated some time ago Minister of Communications Igor Schegolev. According to the high official, the Russian Internet requires protection against «internal and external destructive influences».
It is informed that building of this firewall will take about ten years and hundred million dollars.
Mr. Makarov has declared that Great Firewall is only «a measure on development of an information society» and hardly will affect a freedom of speech.
It is necessary to notice that in due time the government of China has spent $800 million for building of similar “wall”. Since then the phrase «the Chinese Internet» strongly associates with a word “interdiction”.
